VSP Cares Program for Members Not Able to Access Vision Services in 2020

Do you have VSP® patients who were not able to access vision services in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic? Through the VSP Cares program, they may qualify for eye care and eyewear they may need in 2021.

The COVID-19 pandemic had wide impacts on you and your VSP® patients. With VSP being primarily an annual benefit and practices re-opening quickly after the initial shutdown for the pandemic, we’re confident members who desired care during 2020 were able to receive it. However, we know that some VSP members were not able to access vision services in 2020 as a result of the pandemic.

To address this, VSP established the VSP Cares program. The program provides authorization of exam services and eyewear materials through September 2021 to qualifying members* who were unable to access their vision services in 2020 due to COVID-19 impacts. The authorization is provided directly to the member and will be faxed to your office.

If a member has 2021 benefits, they’re encouraged to exhaust them before accessing the VSP Cares program. VSP Cares is not an extension or reinstatement of benefits.

*Not all members will qualify for additional vision services through VSP Cares.
